Premade vs Handmade Fans
Volume eyelash extensions go from a natural look that adds some length and volume, to a very dramatic and full look. The lashes range from 2D-6D and anything over a 4D is going to give the appearance of a stripped lash look. The fans at Lucia Lash/Brow Philadelphia, New York,NYC, Stamford,CT, Park Slope, and Honolulu,HI are all handmade using a special tweezer. The fans are attached to natural lashes but they come in smaller sizes which are lighter than classic extensions.
Pre-made fans, are created by a manufacturer and delivered to the lash artist ready to be dipped and placed on a client’s lash. The process for creating pre-made fans is very similar to that of strip lashes using a machine. Pre-made volume fans are then either a tiny amount of adhesive or bonded at the base The finished product comes inside a tray, on a sticky strip, very similar to individual lash extensions.
Handmade fans are created by the lash artist without the use of machinery. These are often made in real time during the appointment. At Lucia Lash/Brow New York,NYC, Philadelphia, Stamford,CT, Park Slope, and Honolulu,HI, we only use on the spot hand made fans. Handmade fans are created by removing a few extensions from the strip, they are then fanned using our “wrapping” method, dipped into the adhesive, and placed on the client’s lash creating a secure bond on the natural lash.
Handmade fans require a higher level of skill and time investment on the part of the technician, as the fans are being handmade during the service.
