Things you must avoid before getting microblading.

Since we’ve already tackled what microblading is, let me give you some tips before getting this treatment.

I’m sure many of you are interested in microblading. If you don’t want to go back to the salon every 6-8 weeks for maintenance like brow lamination. You probably want semi-permanent brow make-up.

But first, let’s go over what you should avoid.

Microblading provides stunning brows, but it is not suitable for everyone. Thus, preparing properly for a microblading visit can help you achieve the best possible healing outcomes, so make sure you do so.

  • For a minimum of 48 hours prior to the appointment, it is advisable to avoid any blood thinners or medications/supplements that thin the blood. These include Vitamin E, aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen. Alcohol and caffeinated beverages.
  • Please avoid sun and tanning bed exposure for a minimum of one week and preferably 30 days before and after your procedure. When your skin regenerates after a sunburn, the pigment is taken with it. Excessive bleeding and sensitivity from sun exposure might also result in poor healing.
  • No Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, or other botulinum toxin type A injections in the area of the cosmetic tattoo for 2 months prior to receiving a cosmetic tattoo.
  • No filler injections in the cosmetic tattoo area for at least two months before the treatment. For example, if you receive lip fillers, we won’t make you wait two months before having microblading, but we will make you wait two months before getting a LIP BLUSH TATTOO. Because fillers can settle, shift, or change, affecting the overall outcome of a cosmetic tattoo, we recommend waiting two months after fillers to get a cosmetic tattoo in the area, and then waiting until your complimentary touch-up appointment has healed before getting fillers or injections.
  • It is recommended to wait up to 6 months after using Doxycycline before receiving a cosmetic tattoo.
  • You must wait at least one full year (12 months minimum) before considering Accutane. While this is no longer available for prescription use, there are generic versions of the drug (isotretinoin) available, and you must wait a full year after using any of these variations. If you are not sure if you take this type of drug, please consult your physician or pharmacist to be sure and proceed accordingly.
  • If you’re doing chemotherapy, you must wait a minimum of one year (12 months) before considering microblading.
