Microblading vs Nanoblading

Microblading

Microblading is a permanent makeup treatment for eyebrows done by depositing pigments between eyebrow hairs in thin strokes. At Lucia Lash/Brow Philadelphia we use a special microblading tool made up of 10 to 16 fine blades of different thicknesses which are dipped into a liquid pigment solution and dragged through the epidermis. We will use the tool to make the brow arches, fuller, thicker, and symmetrical. The tool is made up of 10-to-16 fine blades and dipped into liquid pigment solutions.

Nanoblading

Nanoblading at Lucia Lash/Brow

Nanoblading is a more precise version of microblading. At Lucia Lash/Brow Philadelphia we use a single-needle device, the nanoneedle machine, which works like a tattoo machine but uses an extremely fine needle to inject pigments into the epidermis. The nanoneedle is flexible and as thin as hair. Some artists call it 3D nano brows because the thin strokes are indistinguishable from the natural hairs. The most common thickness is 0.18mm thick.

What is the difference between Microblading and Nanoblading?

The main differences between microblading and nanoblading are the tools and the technique. Nanoneedles cause significantly less trauma to the skin than the microbladed tool. The flexibility and thinness of the nanoneedle prevent the pigment from going too deep into the skin. The possibility of infection and scarring is minimal.  The results are natural looking, but enhance brows, which last relatively long.

How Long Will Microblading Last?

The results of microblading last up to 18 months and can be prolonged with touch-ups and proper aftercare. Microblading also fades significantly faster on oily skin. Avoid sunlight, exfoliation, and skincare products that contain particularly aggressive ingredients like glycolic acid. The results can be delayed with touch-ups and aftercare.

How Long Will Nanoblading Last?

Nano brows’ results last from 2 to 2.5 years on average, depending on skin type and lifestyle. Nanoblading is better suited for oily skin and is more resilient to excess oil produced within the pores. Likewise, it is also more suitable than microblading for skin with large pores. Nanoblading  is more resistant to excess oils produced in the pores of the brows.  Nano brow’s results last between 2 and 2 years depending on the skin type or lifestyle.

Is Microblading better than Nanoblading ?

It all depends on the look that you’re going for! With Nanoblading, each stroke is individual and thinner than a microblading stroke, so they are better incorporated into the natural brows and at Lash/Brow Philadelphia, Park slope, or Stamford, we can modify the arch with much more precision. Nanoblading also looks more natural on people with thin eyebrow hairs, and clients with alopecia who have no brow hairs. Nanobrows are more suitable for clients with oily skin and large pores since thin strokes are more resilient. On the other hand, microbladed is the slightly cheaper option, so if you’re looking for a more enhanced look and don’t insist on perfect precision you may be the right choice.

In Summary

When it comes to microblading and nanoblading, it all comes down to your likes and preferences. During your consultation and Lucia Lash/Brow Philadelphia, Parkslope, or Stamford, we will talk about both procedures, their differences and which one would be best for you based on skintype and lifestyle.
